Venezuela may buy Russian equip to cover power system damage

MOSCOW, Apr 4 (PRIME) -- Venezuela has requests for the supply of Russian spare parts to eliminate the damage caused to the country’s electric power system, Agriculture Minister Wilmar Castro Soteldo said on Thursday.

“We already have some requests for the supply of spare parts to eliminate the damage that was caused to our generating and distribution system in the electric power industry,” he said.

Venezuela’s Vice President for Planning Ricardo Menendez said late Wednesday that Moscow and Caracas are considering signing an agreement in the electric power sphere after a series of recent blackouts in the country.
